Blondie Readies New Shoes, Album

Blondie singer Debbie Harry appears to be the latest musician to be jumping into the world of fashion, as a new line of Chuck Taylors is set to feature a range of Blondie-inspired designs.

"The shoes have been such a staple in rock ‘n roll and fashion for so long,” the singer told Spin.com. “It seems like a real genuine kind of relationship.”

Blondie, who were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, is also prepping a new album that will be released this spring, around the same time that the band's Converse line hit stores.

"It sounds like a mature Blondie album," said Harry. "We really wanted to have a combination of different elements -- that’s sort of been a tradition with us."

The new effort is said to incorporate elements of reggae, pop, and rock, with lyrics that strive to delve beyond the usual.

"I think that this record will help people understand that one can write rock lyrics that go further into the realm of poetry and literature, that just don't make simple statements," wrote guitarist Chris Stein on Blondie's website.

Additionally, the band has announced that it plans to tour behind the forthcoming album as well.

The new range of Blondie converse shoes will retail for anywhere between $55 and $85, and will be available in both mens and womens styled. To see the shoe line visit Converse's site.
